Raised in Long Island, New York, LaKita Royal Ed.D. knows firsthand how life-changing safe, stable, opportunity-rich housing can be. As a former Housing Choice Voucher recipient, she’s navigated the very uncertainties and barriers so many families face, and transformed those challenges into unwavering passion for empowerment and equity.

Determined to support others in securing brighter futures, LaKita began her vocation as a community advocate in Long Island and Queens. Through supporting voucher holders, renters, and families at every stage, she saw the power of lived experience, relentless advocacy, and practical know-how in transforming lives.
She lives, and leads by the “3 Ps”: Passion, Purpose, and Persistence. “I believe every person deserves the keys to opportunity, not just a place to live”.
